So what's so bad about being a big dumb animal, anyway? People throw food at you, dogs don't try to
hump your leg and zoo-keepers pick up your shit. Anyway, I started wheelin'
shortly after I started driving. My 1977 Triumph Spitfire could really get it awn....anyway, that broke
a long time ago, so did the Concorde (Canadian Nova), the Z-28, the rental Cavalier and the Subaru wagon.
Back in those days, none of my friends had 4x4's and only two had trucks. They broke those. I finally got
a 4x4 after I got a motorcycle accident settlement in 1997. Most of the money I spent on CDs and tacos
(and a few dollars for the gals at, well, that's another story), but $2800 of it went to an '85 Toyota shortbed.
That was a nice truck, roll bar (bolt-together), brush guard, 3 inch Rancho lift, RS-5000's, 32 inch BFG ATs,
stock gears, open diffs, well, it looked nice anyway. But at least it got me started into wheeling.

Shortly after my ex took my truck to NY, I met up with Rob. He had just gotten a 1999 Tacoma and we got to
talking trucks and wheeling, started hanging out and I finally got another 4x4 in the spring of 2000. I bummed
a grand from a friend and got a 1986 Suzuki Samurai. Best thousand bucks I ever spent. Since then, I've been
hanging out, building a Samurai, breaking a Samurai, wheeling a Samurai. I do some other stuff too, like go
to work and school and go out, but those things aren't as interesting.
