Moab, Utah - The 2003 AMS trip to Moab, Utah : 2003-04-13

Having run into several setbacks in my quest to get Suzi done for Moab this year, when Saturday rolled around and my driveshafts weren't ready.. it was kinda the final straw. I decided to pack up the blue hardtop and roll up to Moab with Nick and Troy the next day.

We were happy to see that our rental house was actually pretty damn nice. We're hoping to find another nice one like this next year that allows animals (gotta take Donut ya know). We unpacked.. drank a few beers (AZ beers.. we brought our own from Flagstaff) and relaxed a bit after a quick cruise around town.

After running a few trails Monday, we checked out the camp grounds where a bunch of our friends were staying and learned that Scott had rolled his Toyota 3 times over in Pritchet Canyon. His wife recieved a broken finger and they both got cut and banged up a bit... but both were okay.

On Tuesday afternoon, Troy got rear-ended in town by a kid in a 2wd Ranger. The truck kinda skipped off his rear bumper and ran up his drivers side rear tire and into the tub of his Zuk just behind the drivers door. The bumper recieved a minor scratch.. and the impact area from the truck on the tub is actually pretty hard to see (ever taken a close look at Troy's junk??). Other than taco'ing his rear spring which led to a whole day of searching for a replacement and then just going with a Wrangler set and having to fab up some quick stuff to make them work.. all was well.

Overall, it was another great trip up to Moab. Troy broke every spare u-joint he brought.. as usual. He also lost a complete yoke somewhere on Main Street when one decided to explode. He taco'd his rear spring, got a big ass stick shoved through the sidewall of one of his MTR's and will be picking Ford Ranger turn signal plastic out of his tub for weeks to come. Nick was cursed with a pissed off Weber that was dumping MEGA fuel into the charcoal canister and that was overflowing onto the ground every time he'd shut his junk off. He also slid backwards going across Golden Crack and jacked his rear bumper (no big deal, it's days were numbered anyways). I managed to taco my tie-rod somehow and jacked my fuel pump (it was spewing oil out the vent tube). Then I rolled my Zuk on the last obstacle on the last trail on the last day of wheeling.. Sweeet!

Can't wait to go next year!!
